Well you don't get a contest like this every day. SEGA Europe has teamed up with The Sonic Stadium to get you a very special prize to close the Summer of Sonic event. If you're feeling a bit glum about no blue promise on your freshly purchased XBOX 360, or just don't know if you'll be able to afford that next-generation SONIC game on top of the heaving price of the PlayStation 3, then this is for you! We have a copy of SONIC the Hedgehog to give away, and the lucky winner will get it as soon as SEGA get their shipments of copies in. Basically, what we're saying is you'll be the first lucky git in the country (at least) to own the game proper. What say you, fellow Sonic fan? Ist thou interested?

Being the penultimate contest however, we have the penultimate entrance requirements. We want you to answer this:

Q: What does SONIC mean to you, as a fan?

This is a very very vague question, intentionally so. What we want from you is the most original and greatest expression of your feelings as a Sonic fan. What it is about Sonic you admire or like, why you like him. That sort of thing. We don't just want looooooooong essays, mind you. This is an everything-goes contest! We want photos! We want pictures! We want music, if you want to! Hell, get a camcorder and stage a Sonic-themed can-can if you like! The most inspiring, original and heartwarming (or outrageous) examples of being a Sonic fan will win the first copy of Sonic the Hedgehog.

There could only be one winner. We had a total of 64 entries - people sent us videos, stories, images and photos of their merchandise. You're all truly awesome Sonic the Hedgehog fans and we felt so moved by all your stories, that we've archived them all on this page - a bit of an unprecedented move for us, since we only really focus on runners-up and winners, but simply click on any of the entrant's names to check out what they think Sonic means to them.

At the end of the day though, it came down to four entries. Four totally outstanding pieces that truly showed off dedication of the Sonic fan - while doing the all-important thing of actually answering the question "What does SONIC mean to you, as a fan?". At the end of the day though, we could only pick ONE winner, but we can't reveal the winner without showing you in detail just what we had in the running - these are the honourable mentions.
